Colorado weather provided another opportunity to take an unusual picture. The fourth picture is the original picture. The others are enhanced versions of the original. Do you know what this is? Feel free to comment.

Family Man

Here's another example of being in the right place at the right time. When you have a great subject to work with - sometimes all the photographer needs to do is snap the picture. Many thanks to my friend Paula for giving me the opportunity to get some great shots.

Hello Little Man!

Sometimes you get a great photo not because of your great technical or composition skills, but because you were in the right place at the right time. I did tweak this photo a little: cropped it, turned it black and white and blurred the edges in order to emphasize the content. But, it's that content - the look on the face of the father as he gazes into the face of his infant son - that make this a great photo.

More snow pictures

There's one thing about Colorado weather. It certainly provides plenty of opportunity for interesting photos. This was one of the snows that has a sparkly cottony look to it. In fact, after playing with iPhoto, I think at least one of these photos resembles a cotton plant - perhaps not as prickly looking as an actual cotton bole - but cottony all the same. Changing the tint on the icicle photo also changed the temperature of the picture. Instead of being cold, I think it has more of hot feel to it. What do you think?

Icicle

Ok. It's obvious that a busy librarian with two children and a husband in the military is not going to be able to find a new photo a day. So, let's shoot for at least one new photo a week.

Today's photo is of an icicle hanging off the side mirror of my husband's truck. It's snowing again here so maybe there will be more opportunities for interesting photos. This was a color photo that I used iPhoto to turn black and white and then blurred everything so that the focus is on the icicle. Many of the photo gurus say not to center your main object, but in this case, I don't think centering the icicle harms the picture. What do you think?

Biggest Full Moon of 2010

Tonight's moon is supposed to be the biggest full moon of 2010. This is one of those times when I am sorry that I don't know what I'm doing. These pictures are OK, but with a proper lens and proper settings, they could have been great photos.

Photo Posters

Here's something else you can do with Picnik - turn your photos into posters! This would be something very cool for kids sports photos.
